Old Black Water

I've been wanting one of these black water flush kits for a while and I finally went over to Giant RV today and bought one. I'll be doing the installation like this video tomorrow.

The sales girl offered a really interesting suggestion for cleaning any really stubborn deposits in the tank. She said to put a few gallons of water in the tank, pour a big bag of ice cubes down the commode, and then drive around for awhile. The ice acts as an aggregate that knocks everything loose and once it melts is obviously no problem for the dump station.Very clever.

I also stumbled upon a really cool website, called CampsitePhotos.com. They have a searchable directory of campgrounds, with photos of every site in the place! If you sign up as a photographer, they'll even pay you to take photos of the campgrounds you go to.

Nice, if you can get to the tanks. I would have to remove the bottom of the trailer to get to mine. Did you notice the guy has a band-aid on the finger? Tim 'Tool Man' Taylor time?

They have another kit (about $20 more) that extends the hose connection to wherever it is convenient.

Ooops!! Looks like I'm going to have two, just like in the video. Today I installed it in the gray water tank instead of the black water. It only took about 30 seconds to do, so once I get another nozzle, I can't screw it up because there are no other waste tanks on La Rana.

For years I have used ice cubes to clean our house sink disposer. They are also good for removing old carpet stains or uncrushing carpet fibers where furniture was. That's my Martha Stewart moment for today...

Good post. I've looked at campsitephotos and it's really great site. Will spend some time on it now :-)
