There is a guy named Dave, who recently posted this photo he took of the Morton Peak Lookout using a kite mounted camera.Looking at Dave's album, it looks like it'd be a lot of fun to make our own version of Google Earth for our favorite camping locations.
Charles C. Benton, Professor of Architecture at the University of California at Berkeley, has created a terrific website on Kite Aerial Photography. I might have to try some of this out someday.

Somehow I don't see duct-taping my $1,500 camera to a kite. How do you hit the shutter release?
Check out the link Jake. He's made systems that use RC servos to trigger cheap 35mm cameras. My favorite release is one that uses Silly Putty and a rubber band on a disposable camera. Very clever... Ed
